After reading this post over at incourage....I was a little dumbstruck.
Can a card really do all that?
So I began to ponder that thought.
The idea that a small piece of paper, either received face-to-face or through the mail, can change your life.
I think yeah, it can.
A card can change your life....maybe in a small change-your-day-kinda way at first, but then couldn't that day lead to a better day tomorrow?
Therefore changing your life....even if in the tiniest way.
A year ago, I was going through a rough time at work. A close friend and co-worker dropped a sweet encouraging card on my desk that made me cry and hope. Her sweet words and the fact that she'd thought to write them...meant more than anything in that moment. I kept that card near my desk for months to come, rereading it when I needed a reminder that I was just where I was supposed to be.
One of my oldest and dearest friends lives hours away and there have been many times when a card from her has shown up in my mailbox unexpectedly (Thank you Jesus for mail that is more than bills!) and immediately my mood was changed.
My precious husband, who is a man a few words will often pour his heart out in a card.
(I've kept them all....even the ones from when we first met 15 years ago.)
So...yes, a card can be a hug, a laugh, a sweet message, just when you need it.
Although, I'm not a huge fan of resolutions, I do like goals. One goal I set for myself this year was to send birthday cards to my close friends and family. The first week of January, I sat down with my box of cards and calendar and wrote out all the birthday cards for January. I have them ready to go on the desk near the door.
Just a day or so later, I came across that post.
Why not go one step further?

I had such a good time last week sewing and hanging out with the kids. Here are some pics from our week:
As for the sandwich snack bars...my kids, Eli (4) & Luci (21 months) they GOBBLED them up! Eli asked if we could buy a whole bunch more! We had 3 flavors to try out; a Honey Graham & Strawberry Yogurt Grammy Sammy, a Grape Jelly & Peanut Butter Jammy Sammy, & a Strawberry Jam & Peanut Butter Jammy Sammy. The Jammy Sammies were a HUGE hit! Neither of them were too fond of the Grammy Sammy. (Not real sure why....kids, who knows?) 
I really liked that there were a few pages that were educational too; a page to trace letters of cool words like "truck", a connect the dots page that had lower numbers Eli knows, & lots more.
