I've been blessed with many friends throughout the stages of my life. Two of the best have survived the many stages and more. Jen and I first met in Mrs. Hicks 6th grade class. We laughed about boys and shaving our legs. Despite our differences (she played softball and I danced) we became instant friends. Vicki and I met in Mr. B's 7th grade Language Arts class. I'll never forget the day that Mr. B asked me to go talk with Vicki because her mom was battling breast cancer. I remember not knowing what to say, but it didn't matter. Here we are more than 16 years later and I know that regardless of what's going on in my life or theirs, these girls will drop whatever to come to my rescue and vice versa. It was evident this weekend in the way I recruited them to help with Eli and Luci's birthday party. The party was at 6 o'clock on a Saturday night, and I'm sure they had a million other things to do...but they came to make cakes, stuff treat bags, hang crepe paper, video and take pictures....all for my babies (and me). What wonderful friends!
I guess what amazes me the most about these precious friends is that we don't talk everyday anymore like we did in middle school and high school. We only see each other a couple of times a year, but it doesn't matter. When we're together, it's like no time has passed. They know me better than I know myself. I can tell them my darkest secrets and they won't judge me or tell me I'm crazy. They know all the stupid things I've ever done and love me anyway. And I feel the exact same way about them. Just as I'm amazed with my children and wonder what I ever did to deserve them, I'm the same with my friends. God blessed me with 2 girls who would stand with me during the most wonderful and the most trying times of my life. I am grateful. Eternally grateful.

Heidi, thank you very much. I have to say that I feel the same way about you. Thank you for your years of friendship. It probably means more to me than you will ever know. I love you and your family and I am so thankful I was able to be there.
