Winter Vaca Loves

1. PJs all day long :)
2. Baking...or not...peppermint bark

I love vacation. (Who doesn't really?) I don't mean a trip vacation. Just vacation from school. From daily life. From the crazy that my life becomes when I spend 8-10 hours a day with kids who aren't mine. Pushing them to read. And write. And do things with fractions that make me think, really, they REALLY need to know this?! I love vacations that include sleeping in till 8! and getting up to make snowman pancakes complete with powdered sugar & chocolate chips. I love having time to make peanut butter banana bread (with chocolate chips of course--every thing's better with chocolate chips!) and peppermint bark. What's funny is I don't even like peppermint. But I've learned, just today, that if you eat peppermint surrounded in two thick layers of chocolate...it's not that bad. Who knew!

Back to my vacation---did I mention that I love it? I have loved reading a million blogs about people I don't even know but who write such beautiful and inspiring things that it takes my breath and makes me really pay attention to my days more. I love staying up late to watch movies that I haven't been able to get out and see. I love playing Don't Break the Ice, Chutes & Ladders, CandyLand and a million other games whenever we want. I love that I've been running my dishwasher (which is a whole other love affair) twice a day cause we've been eating in constantly. I love that I'm so excited to see my husband when he comes home because I haven't talked to another adult all day. (I do miss talking to adults.)

In less than a week I'll be back at work. I'm sad about that. But I know that if I want to continue to eat and be able to feed my children, then I have to go. My job is good though. I get to play with kids all day. Sometimes it's not so fun (I don't like having to force them to do work and get frustrated when they don't) but most of the time it's good. (We're doing Hershey Bar fraction math on Monday--how can math be bad with Hershey bars?) I'll be there, but I'll be missing my kiddos. Knowing that they're in good hands while they're away from me. Being loved on and taught kindly. I'll hug them tighter at night because I'll be missing them so. I'll wait patiently on spring break and then summer so I can soak them up all day long again.
