School Days

So school is CRAZY this time of year! I heard someone say just today that it's crazier now than in May when we're trying to cram test prep down our kids' throats and prayin' like mad that they'll remember it all...and I agree! There's just so much to do this time of year...at school and at home, it makes for a lot of pressure! Add to that a few extra challenging students, along with a million other tiny issues that are beginning to pile up...and you have one FRAZZLED teacher!!
And as if I need one more thing right now, I'm not feeling like the best teacher these days. For a multitude of reasons, but what it all boils down to is that I don't handle criticism well. I take it VERY personal and begin second guessing every thing that I do or have ever done. I'm not sure why I latch onto the tiniest thing and worry over it until I make myself almost sick...but I do. A colleague and dear sweet friend of mine allowed me to vent the other day and then passed along this verse, (which has now become my mantra.)

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

After repeating this a few times, I begin to see all the good in what I do each day. I'm not super teacher, but I feel confident that my students have learned something this year. (Even if it's only their new nicknames!) I don't bring piles of work home because I know that time with my kids and my husband is WAY more important than anything else. I work with some of the most amazing people on the planet. They are my dearest friends and I'm so very thankful that the Lord has put them in my life to encourage me and just walk this daily walk with me.

Hopefully my new mantra will help you in some way. What peace God gives! To quote Francesca B. "He's already won the battle and He's got great plans for me..." What a comforting thought.
Merry Christmas!
